When God’s Spirit Moves

When God's Spirit Moves
Acts 4:23-31
They prayed - the early church were people of prayer. Instead of forming a political protest, they prayed.
They prayed for and believed for the super-natural manifestation of God’s presence.
They were clear about who they were praying to. There was no mistaking that they were calling on Jesus the Messiah who Pilate, Herod, the Gentiles and the Jews all conspired to kill.
They prayed in the name of Jesus for miracle working power, and they prayed for boldness to speak God's Word.
The place where they were gathered was shaken. Why did God shake the place? When God's presence enters a place everything is impacted.
Sometimes God has to shake the place where we are so that we will get our focus back in the right place. When you start praying God is going to shake some things. The word shake means to agitate, or to disturb.
Some people are in a place, and God is trying too shake some things out of your life, he is trying to bring you to the place where he can pour his power on you and
use you.
In Isaiah when he saw the LORD high and lifted up, the Bible said that the posts of the door shook at the cry of, “holy, holy, holy.”
Later in Acts Paul and Silas were in jail and began to sing at midnight, and the whole jail began to shake. And the Bible says that it was an earthquake, but it also says this, "the foundation of the prison was shaken and all the doors opened and all their chains were loosed." Acts 16:26
Where God’s presence is, there will always be movement.
They were ALL filled with the Holy Spirit. This means that there was a definite moment when these people who were praying, were filled with power. Being filled with the Spirit is not a one time event that happens and then you are just Spirit-filled.
To be Spirit-filled is to be filled with a life giving flow and joy. And it doesn't come from you it comes from the Holy Spirit. When you are filled with the Spirit there is no room for other things.
You can be filled with fear. Filled with hatred or anger. Filled with jealousy and bitterness. Filled with envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. When we are filled with these things there is no room for the Holy Spirit. When God’s Spirit moves he is making room to reveal his glory.
